Robin Kick
Wine Buyer
Originally coming from the suburbs of Chicago, I have lived in various places including Southern California and multiple times in France. After receiving the Sommelier-Conseil diploma from the Université du Vin in Suze-La-Rousse, France (S. Rhone), I started my wine career in 1999 at Christie's Los Angeles where I was a wine auction specialist for 4 years. Though I started out as more saavy about Old World wines, my experience at Christie's introduced me to many interesting well made New World bottles particularly from California and Oregon. Nonetheless, my loyalities lie with red Burgundy, Rhone wines, Champagne and Riesling in all its shapes and forms. After my stint at Christie's, I crossed that Atlantic to be closer to continental Europe (and its vineyards!) where I worked as a marketing manager for a London wine broker before discovering the gem of a merchant, Goedhuis & Co. where I have been for over 6 years.
Though I'm studying for the Master of Wine and my free time is quite limited, I enjoy travelling, particularly to southern France and to more exotic locations, discovering unusual wines, salsa dancing and am keen to finally seek out my falconry license!
